Kenneth C. Dickson
“Thank you for being interested my campaign. Below, you will find information about who I am, where I've been and some of what I've accomplished. It is very important to me that I clearly communicate my passion and vision as well as the reasons I am a candidate for Re-election to the Murrieta School Board this fall. I'm sure that you will see that I will bring to another term on the School Board extensive experience from various levels of government - national, state, and local, as well as an extensive career of public service.”
Ken Dickson received his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Kansas in 1970 and his law Juris Doctorate degree from Duke University School of Law in 1973. His additional USAF senior officer Professional Military Education includes graduating from the Air War College, National Security Management Course, and the Air Command and Staff College.
Lt. Colonel Dickson, USAF retired, has served as a Judge Advocate in various assignments throughout the country as a prosecutor, as a government contracts trial attorney, and as an environmental law counsel. Following his active duty career Lt. Col. Dickson practiced law in San Diego California until he was selected to be the civilian legal counsel for the environmental cleanup (CERCLA) effort at March AFB in Riverside California. Since 1996 Ken has maintained a limited practice in law; and currently teaches law classes for Mt. San Jacinto College as an adjunct professor.
Ken and his wife Susan have been married for 39 years. They have two children and five grandchildren. Susan is a life-long educator currently employed by the Riverside County Office of Education. Son, Douglas, a graduate of the USAF Academy, is an active duty C-17 pilot currently serving in Alaska; and daughter, Kristin, a UCLA graduate, is employed by Kaiser Permanente in Atlanta. Both children attended Murrieta Valley High School and graduated as Valedictorians of their respective classes. The Dicksons lived in San Diego County for 14 years before moving to Murrieta in 1992.

CORE FAMILY VALUES
'I have always held that true strength and security come from faith and the family unit; that governments are ordained to support individuals and families (never the other way around!), and that past accomplishments are the best indicators of character and future actions.
My roots go deep into Midwest soil, beginning with my grandfather who came to America in search of its promise at age 11. Matthew Dickson was never able to see his parents again, and worked his entire adult life on the same Kansas farm. He and my grandmother labored sacrificially through two wars and a major depression to raise six children and to educate them all to have career options far beyond the place they still call home. They also passed down an enduring ethic of work, thrift, education, optimism, and faith'.
SERVICE BEFORE SELF
'The following Dickson generations have had it easier, but, ever grateful for the freedoms and opportunities here and aware of the need to protect them, my family now has three generations of military service in its brief history. My dad, my brother and I, and now my son have all served active duty tours as volunteer officers. My job was by far the least dangerous, but it did involve the preservation of Air Force assets and government integrity so that the war fighters can be as effective as possible'.
EDUCATION AND OPPORTUNITY
Ken believes that the preparation of upcoming generations for lifelong learning is essential for the strength and financial security of the families and communities in not just California but in every state of the nation. The state of California spends about 40% of its budget on education and the citizens of Murrieta deserve the best possible stewardship of those funds which are provided by tax payers for our students.
